Working Principle
The finger type expansion joint forms a continuous deck surface through the interlocking arrangement of finger plates on both sides. When the bridge expands or contracts due to temperature changes or load effects, relative sliding occurs between the finger plates, distributing the longitudinal movement across the finger area. The gaps between the fingers allow certain rotation at the beam ends, adapting to multi directional bridge movement. This interlocking structure maintains a smooth deck surface while reducing vehicle impact.
