High Damping Rubber Bearings (HDR) are made by adding carbon or other elements to the rubber base material, endowing the laminated rubber with excellent damping performance. High damping rubber isolation, by utilizing high damping rubber, features stable support, elastic reset, and damping functions. During an earthquake, it can absorb seismic energy, reduce the impact of earthquakes, and can be used alone as an isolation device.

◆◆ The installation process of high-damping rubber bearings can be divided into the following detailed steps:  

1. Before installing the high-damping rubber bearings, an inspection of the bearings is required. This includes verifying that the corresponding pier/abutment position of the bearing matches its specifications, checking whether the connection status of the bearing is normal, inspecting the identification and installation direction of the bearing, and ensuring that the upper and lower surfaces of the bearing that are in close contact with concrete or cement mortar are clean and free of dust and oil stains.  


2. During the installation process, grouting materials, usually non-shrink epoxy resin mortar, need to be used to ensure a tight connection between the bearing and the pier/abutment. Before grouting, the upper surface of the bearing pad stone should be chiseled to expose the aggregate, and debris in the pre-reserved holes should be removed. Then, the mortar is poured into the pre-reserved holes through grouting pipes, and a vibrator is used to compact the mortar to eliminate air bubbles, ensuring that all gaps are fully filled with mortar.  


3. After grouting is completed, curing of the bearing is required to ensure that the mortar can fully harden. During the curing period, the surface of the mortar should be kept moist, and vibration or impact should be avoided. The curing time is usually 7 days, but it may need to be extended in cases of low temperature or high humidity.  


4. After completing the above steps, the installation quality of the bearing needs to be inspected. The inspection contents include checking whether the position, elevation, and levelness of the bearing meet the design requirements, and whether the grouting material is fully filled and hardened. If any problems are found, adjustments or repairs should be made in a timely manner.
