Steel-edged waterstops are widely used in fields such as underground engineering, water conservancy projects, industrial and civil buildings, etc.  


1. In underground engineering, such as subways, tunnels, culverts, basements, etc., steel-edged waterstops can prevent groundwater from leaking into building structures and also prevent water inside the buildings from leaking to the outside, thus protecting the safety and normal operation of underground facilities.  


2. In the construction of water conservancy projects, such as water-retaining dams, reservoirs, canals and other water conservancy facilities, steel-edged waterstops are used to prevent water leakage, ensuring the structural safety and water storage function of water conservancy projects.  


3. In industrial and civil buildings, steel-edged waterstops are suitable for waterproofing projects in parts such as basements, roofs, and bathrooms of high-rise buildings, industrial workshops, commercial buildings, etc., as well as for sealing and waterproofing in parts of buildings such as expansion joints, settlement joints, and earthquake-resistant joints.

◆◆ Construction Process of Steel-Edged Waterstops  

I. Construction Preparation Stage  

Before the start of construction, organize and clean the construction area to ensure that the surfaces of the ground and walls are clean and flat. Simultaneously, inspect the area for cracks and defects; if any exist, they must be repaired in advance. Meanwhile, prepare construction tools and materials, such as cutting machines, welding machines, shovels, cleaning agents, and steel-edged waterstops, to lay the foundation for subsequent construction. 


II. Surface Pretreatment Stage  

Before installing the waterstop, pretreat the construction surface (ground/wall). First, thoroughly clean the surface with a cleaning agent to remove dust, oil stains, and other impurities. Then, use a cutting machine to cut a V-shaped groove, where the depth and width of the groove are determined according to the specifications of the waterstop. Finally, clean the impurities in the groove again with a cleaning agent to ensure the construction surface is clean, which facilitates the installation of the waterstop.  


III. Waterstop Fixing Operation  

Place the steel-edged waterstop into the cut groove and cut it to an appropriate length according to actual needs. Subsequently, fix the waterstop in the groove using a welding machine, ensuring that the welding length and positions are evenly distributed to guarantee the stability and good sealing performance of the installed waterstop. For construction on sloped walls or roof slabs, the waterstop must be fixed to the steel bars of the walls or roof slabs to enhance the fixing effect and ensure construction quality.  


IV. Waterstop Welding Operation  

Connect adjacent steel-edged waterstops using a welding machine to form a continuous waterstop. During welding, ensure the welds are firm and free from water leakage. At the same time, control the welding temperature to prevent the waterstop from melting or being damaged, thus ensuring the welding quality of the waterstop and maintaining its water-stopping function.  


V. Penetration Performance Testing  

After the construction of the steel-edged waterstop is completed, conduct a penetration test. Optional tests include pressure testing or water immersion testing: For pressure testing, use a pressure pump to apply pressure to the waterstop and check for leakage in the surrounding area; for water immersion testing, inject water around the waterstop to a certain height and observe the water-stopping effect. The test results must comply with specifications to verify whether the construction quality of the waterstop meets the standards.  


VI. Construction Information Recording  

After the construction of the steel-edged waterstop is completed, complete the construction records. The recorded content includes information such as the construction date, personnel, methods, and materials. These records can provide detailed basis for subsequent inspection and maintenance of the waterstop, contributing to project management and later operation and maintenance.
