Polysulfide sealant is a sealing material that forms a crosslinked elastomer through curing reaction. Its most notable characteristic lies in the dense sealing layer formed after curing, which offers outstanding resistance to oils, solvents and water, and can maintain stable sealing performance in engineering environments involving prolonged water immersion or continuous chemical media exposure, making it a commonly used product type for locations with stringent waterproof sealing requirements.
This product is also available in one component and two component forms based on packaging and curing method. One component polysulfide sealant is moisture curing, with relatively simple application, suitable for conventional waterproof joints, airport pavement joints and sealing of small to medium hydraulic structures. Two component polysulfide sealant consists of separately packaged base and curing agent, mixed on site in proportion before use, suitable for large area construction, water treatment tank joints, and sealing nodes in infrastructure projects where flexible control of the application pace is needed.
After curing, the elastomer is dense with good resilience, continuously accommodating joint displacement within a certain range. Products with differentiated flowability can be provided to suit various application positions including horizontal joints, vertical joints and overhead joints. Product performance indicators can be adjusted according to actual engineering conditions, to meet the specific requirements of different service environments and construction conditions.
Polysulfide sealant is widely used in water treatment facility joints, dock and wharf sealing, airport runway and apron joints, waterproof nodes of underground works, and long term waterproof sealing of bridge deck joints.
